Intro to Calligraphy

Posted on 08 April 2011 by Creative E-courses

In this “Introduction to Calligraphy” course, we’ll explore the basics of the Italic style of lettering. Beginning with the fundamentals of proper pen hold and position, we’ll familiarize ourselves with simple strokes using a calligraphy marker. Next, working with either a pencil or monoline pen (Uniball, for example) we’ll learn the proper way of forming the letters of the alphabet. This will give us a solid understanding of how to “draw” each letter before moving on to a broad edged tool. You can then choose to continue to work with markers, or you may decide to work with dip pens or cartridge pens… the choice is yours.
